Calling all thespians! Come spend the summer combining the two best things—being outside and THEATRE! Join us for jam-packed days full of fun, learning, and friendship. You don't want to miss this opportunity! Enjoy classes on acting, improvisation, character development, theatre history and more. You'll come away with a vast array of knowledge that would make the Bard proud. With fun crafts, group skits, breakout sessions and a final performance for family and friends Friday at 3 pm at Vanilla Jill's. This will be the experience of a lifetime. Disney Channel's smash hit movie musical comes to life at Upstart Crow this summer in Disney’s High School Musical JR! Troy, Gabriella and the students of East High must deal with issues of love, friends, and family while balancing their classes and extracurricular activities. The show’s infectious, danceable songs will engage cast members and audiences alike!

We are excited to announce that this production will be directed by Upstart Crow alumni, Conner Criswell and choreographed by fellow alumni, Aidan Ziegler-Hansen! Go Crows!

Auditions for Main Cast: All registered students will be cast in this production. Audition appointment sign-ups will be sent to families after they have registered. If your student is interested in a principal role (Troy, Gabriella, Ryan, Sharpay), they must audition. If they are not interested in a principal role, they do not need to audition. Sign up early, as space is limited!

 

High School Musical  Entr' Actes Tuition $200 includes cast t-shirt

Mon-Fri July 16-27, 9:00am - 12:00pm

Entr' Actes are designed for our younger cast members and for those who would like a half-day experience instead of a full-day with the principal cast. Entr' Actes perform songs from the show in between scenes while the principal cast members are changing costumes. All Entr' Acte cast members will have lines and perform song and dance numbers from the show.

BROADWAY BABIES

Does your child love to move to music? Do they sing whenever their favorite cartoon characters do? Broadway Babies is the class for our youngest theater lovers at Upstart Crow. Your child will be introduced to the magic of Musical Theater through song, dance, instruments and music. Students will move and sing to simple routines from some of Broadway’s most loved musicals for kids-- The Lion King, Aladdin, Singin in the Rain, Annie and more! Fun props and costumes provided to bring out the natural performer in your little thespian!

Is your child the one who sings all day? Dances to every tune? Pretends or has imaginary friends? Loves to dress up? This is the perfect first step into the wonderful world of theatre for them. Using props, costumes, improv, puppets, and creating characters, not only builds a child's language skills, but also provides the makings of stage play. Theatre tots is a fun, learning experience that will engage and develop the pint-sized player with a blend of fine arts and academics.

Tuition: $150  

Weekend Class: Saturdays from 12:30-1:15pm OR 1:45-2:30pm

BROADWAY KIDS

Designed to teach the foundations of acting for kids aching to be a Broadway star. From Broadway basics to staging, cast members are highly involved in creative drama activities. Cast members will re-create musical theatre numbers from favorites like Annie, Little Mermaid, Beauty and the Beast, and more. They will sing, dance, act and soon be the triple threat of the young set.

SEUSSOLOGY - ages 7 - 15

Sure you think you know Dr. Seuss, but have you ever heard his story told from a Crow? This wild, rollicky adventure into the rhyme and reason of Suess, is a musical theatre show like no other. Cast members will help Horton find a Who and the Lorax save his home, not to mention the Sneetches finding a star upon thar. This fast paced musical will lead cast and audiences through the story book pages of the master of rhyme, to discover just where to eat green eggs and ham. Join the Cat In The Hat as he tries to explain why a cat is the only cat who knows where it is at!

Rehearsals begin April 3rd on Mondays and Thursdays 6:30 - 8:00 PM and Saturdays 10:00 - 12:00 PM. Parent meeting April 3rd from 6:30 - 7:00 PM with rehearsal to follow.   Tech week May 29 - June 1.    Show dates June 2nd - 4th.

ROCK 'N ROLL - Sing Out Vocals!

Learn vocal technique while singing the Fan Favs from the rock and roll era. You will rock and roll your way through this vocal experience. Working with musical theatre numbers, students learn breath control, posture, develop volume, sight singing, reading vocal lines and tips and tricks for the challenges of the Broadway belt. Musical theatre uses many styles from the belt to operatic, to rock, often times within the same musical. Using a mix of science and practical theory, Cast Members will learn the strengths of the different voices, how to use them, and how to protect them.

STAGE DOOR ADVANCED VOCAL TECHNIQUE - Team only

This class is designed for the singer who is ready to learn more advanced vocal techniques. Throughout this term we will be focusing on breath management, posture, sight singing, pitch control while singing harmonies. Students will learn to internalize harmonies and rhythms, listen to each other, and sing with better technique and stage presence. This class is required for Stage Door Cast Members.
