Eularee Smith is the Executive Director for Upstart Crow Studios. Her background is in Education and Music, teaching for over 30 years in the public and private schools. She is the head of the Theatre and Music Department, directing over 40 musical theatre productions. As one of the founders of Upstart Crow, she is dedicated to a single purpose to offer children a successful artistic experience. She believes that all children have talent and it is a teacher's job to help them discover it.
Sarah Beth Byrum
Sarah Beth Byrum is the Artistic Director for Upstart Crow Studios. She directs and choreographs the musical theatre program. A graduate of the UO Dance program, Sarah Beth Byrum also directs the resident dance company, All That! Dance. As co-founder of Upstart Crow, her passion has inspired thousands of dancers on their journey to artistic excellence. Her dance teams have won numerous awards and the 2014 National Dance Champion award. She was honored by UO for her extraordinary dedication to dance education for the youth in our community.
HEIDI KNIGHT MEIGS
Heidi Knight Meigs is our Creative Director and our resident Set Designer. She is also a past Board member, so knows the Crow from the inside out. Heidi graduated from the University of Oregon in 2013, majoring in theatre with an emphasis in set and costume design. She has also worked for local theatre companies, such as The Shedd, in stage management and as a property master. Heidi's two children have grown up in Upstart Crow's theatre program.
Jacquelyn Byers graduated with a BA in Liberal Arts from Gutenberg College in 2010. She has choreographed musical theatre productions at Upstart Crow Studios including The Grinch, Annie, and Disney's The Little Mermaid. Her studies include Dance, Voice, and Acting, as well as Shakespeare under the direction of Christopher Leebrick. She performed for many years with Denise Steele's swing performance group, The Joint is Jumpin'. She enjoys sharing her enthusiasm for the stage with children in our Acting classes and Entr'actes. Jackie has directed It's Only A Nightmare, The Happy Elf and Disney's Beauty and the Beast.
Katey is our dance instructor, Stage Door and production choreographer. She has recently moved from New York City to join our staff. She holds a Bachelors Degree of Performing Arts in Dance Performance from Oklahoma City University. Katey has served on the faculty of many dance studios, performed with the NY Theatre Barn and Erin Pryor Dance Theatre, creating numerous choreographic works performed in New York, Chicago, Texas and Oklahoma. Katey is inspired and excited to share her wealth of talens with our young people.
Jonathan Siegle is an actor, director, designer, technician, playwright and musician. He studied at Boston University, the University of Oregon and the d'ell Arte School. Jonathan has worked on stage, film, television and radio. Included among the over 200 plays and musicals he has directed are My Fair Lady, Kiss Me Kate, Guys and Dolls, The Boy Friend,, South Pacific, Othello, The Taming of The Shrew, Inherit The Wind, Amadeus, the first punk rock Antigone, The Women and A Streetcar Named Desire. Among his original productions are the musicals The Birth of Merlin and Boomers!, and a vaudeville The Frog Prince. For many years he directed the Lord Leebrick Theatre Holiday Vaudeville Show. Jonathan is our Stage Door Next Gen, Artistic Director.
Jill Switzer received her bachelor of music education degree from Saint Mary’s College, Notre Dame, Indiana. While currently maintaining her own private voice studio,
she also is a member of the Eugene Concert Choir and the Eugene Opera Chorus. She has worked extensively with children, youth and adult choirs, most notably as
music director at the Indiana University Newman Center for eight years. Although she is classically trained, her performance background also includes musical theater
and Latin American folk music. Her teaching credentials encompass vocal technique and music theory workshops in both English and Spanish.
Jenny began her life on stage from a very young age. She was in her first Upstart Crow production when she was seven. She primary teaching focus is our younger children ages 2-8. Jenny brings a wealth of experience from her dance education of the past 16 years along with her love for teaching acting skills. As the Theater Tots teacher, she is a great addition to the staff.
